My Lazer 5 is quite satisfactory. A good friend tried mine and got me to order one for him. I have carefully broken mine in, though no break-in instructions are included in the manual. I decided to limit my speed to 20 mph for the first 200 miles, and 25 mph for the next 200 miles. With about 800 miles on it, it cruises easily at 25 to 30, tops out, limited by the CD ignition module, at 33. With a "racing" CD module, it exceeds 40 mph.
The operation manual needs a few corrections. The pedals interfere somewhat with one's feet if using the footpegs, drag occasionally on corners. One came off and got lost. Normal bike pedals will not fit. I took the pedals and cranks off. The Lazer starts readily electrically, and will push start if necessary.
The greatest advantage is that there is no need for a drivers license, nor registration in many states. This makes the lack of a variator gear-ratio shifting acceptable, It is of high quality and amazing engineering. |
